Historic Downtown Mount Pleasant, TX at the Corner of W Second St and Madison Ave
Last weekend, the Pepper May Farms crew had the privilege of setting up shop at Second Saturday in Mount Pleasant, Texas, and what a fantastic day it was! Held in the heart of the city's historic downtown Main Street district, this monthly event brings together local vendors, food trucks, and the community for a celebration of everything that makes Mount Pleasant special.
The Heart of Downtown
Second Saturday is part of the Main Street Mount Pleasant program, which has been revitalizing and celebrating the city's historic downtown since 1993. There's something really meaningful about being part of that tradition. Setting up right in the middle of a community that takes so much pride in its roots is something we don't take for granted. The energy downtown was incredible, and it was easy to see why this event keeps drawing a crowd month after month.
Vendor Neighbors: Ruby + Begonia
We had the pleasure of sharing the day alongside our friends at Ruby + Begonia, a beloved Mount Pleasant small business owned by the talented Sabrina Vaseleck. Ruby + Begonia specializes in luxury apothecary goods, including hand-poured soy candles, organic soaps, whipped scrubs, body sprays, and all-natural home products, all handcrafted with care right here in East Texas. Their motto says it all: Bloom Wild. Live Free.
The business holds a beautiful story behind it. Sabrina named it after her mother's nickname, "Ruby Begonia," as a tribute to her memory. Every product on their shelves reflects the grace, warmth, and color her mom was known for. It was an honor to set up beside a business with so much heart. If you haven't visited their storefront at 207 North Madison in downtown Mount Pleasant, you're missing out!
Meeting Our Neighbors
One of the best parts of an event like Second Saturday is the people. We got to meet so many wonderful folks from Mount Pleasant and the surrounding area, including longtime beef lovers, curious newcomers, and everyone in between. There's something special about being able to look a customer in the eye, shake their hand, and tell them exactly where their meat comes from. Those conversations are what it's all about.
Samples off the Grill
We fired up the grill right there downtown and let the beef speak for itself. Watching people take that first bite and light up? That never gets old. The samples were a hit, and we loved hearing everyone's reactions. Good beef doesn't need much. Just some heat and a little time, and we think that came through loud and clear.
Coming Up: May 10th at Second Saturday
We're already looking forward to our next appearance at Second Saturday on May 10th, and we're pulling out all the stops. We'll be firing up the grill again with fajita meat samples, including our fan-favorite Wagyu-Angus Fajita Steak. Raised regeneratively on native grasses and finished on a carefully balanced grain diet, it's a lean, juicy, deeply flavorful cut that's perfect for grilling and slicing thin. Come try it for yourself!
And just in time for Mother's Day, we'll have steaks available to take home. Think about it: what better way to treat Mom than with a beautiful, locally-raised steak from Pepper May Farms? Skip the crowded restaurants and fire up the grill for something truly special this Mother's Day.
š Shop our Fajita Steak online, available in 1-2 lb and 2+ lb options, or come see us in person on May 10th!
